Hello, I am Carmen Gehrke. It is my belief that counseling is a process of change and empowerment. My work as a therapist is to help you heal and overcome the situations and feelings that bring you to my office. There is no “right” or “wrong” reason to engage in therapy.
My approach is based on honoring your needs and wants at the moment. It is not to judge or to tell you what to do. I am here to be a source of support and guidance using my clinical training and my own experience of personal and professional growth.
I am trained to implement cognitive behavior techniques and to help you reach a balance between mind and body. I am also a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) psychotherapist. EMDR is an innovative, effective intervention to address symptoms of trauma, PTSD, and emotional distress.
Born and raised in Lima, Peru, I am a bilingual (English / Spanish). I started my practice in 2010 in Wilmington, Delaware. Because my family and I love the beach and sunny weather, we relocated to Palm Beach County, Florida. As a woman, mother, and professional one of my strengths is to use my clinicaltraining in combination with my own life experience to empower those who seek change and healing in their lives. It is not an easy process, but it is definitely a fulfilling one. You are not alone.
