Carmen Gehrke, LMHC
Certified EMDRIA-Approved Consultant

FourMy goal is to help you become a stronger EMDR clinician.

I am a Spanish-speaking, bilingual EMDR psychotherapist in private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

As an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, I was trained and mentored by Deany Laliotis, the world-renowned trainer specializing in training clinicians to implement EMDR as a comprehensive relational approach.

Besides running a hybrid practice in Florida, I am a faculty member at Center for Excellence in EMDR Therapy, founded by Mrs. Laliotis, and facilitate EMDR training.

My practice is focused on assisting clinicians who are treating adults with complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, developmental trauma, anger management, and attachment trauma.

I believe consultation is part of each clinician’s duty not only to provide the best clinical work, but also it is a necessary means to keep gauging our work and prevent burnout.

I am strongly interested in empowering Spanish-speaking bilingual clinicians who work with clients where English is their second language and are challenged by the cultural differences and language barriers that frequently arise in clinical work.

What to expect.

Through my training with Deany Laliotis, I have developed a strong interest and skills to work with my clients relationally. This means that while assisting clinicians develop and strengthen their clinical skills, I empower them to examine their own reactions and processes so that feeling “stuck” is never a problem but an opportunity to grow.

I believe sometimes our own “stuff” can get in the way. Beautiful work can be done if we can be present for our clients and ourselves at the same time.

Excelling in implementing EMDR therapy is more than just using protocols. It is also about being present, attuned, and brave so we can successfully ask our clients to do the work we are willing to do as their therapist.

Using the relationship between client and therapist in our work is called Relational EMDR. Being relational is key so our work can be efficient, human, and effective.

EMDR allows individuals to experience an appropriate, adaptive, and ecological resolution of their problems and to add new skills to cope with challenging situations and general life experiences.

I will educate you that when treating trauma, providing symptom relief is important, but it is not the main goal. The main journey is helping our clients become better versions of themselves and live a life in which their trauma is not who they are.

I would be honored to help you take your EMDR practice to the next level. Please call me to schedule a short conversation about the EMDR Consultation I offer (561) 602-0833.
